Good bye Totoro ?
C’est avec une peine immense que j’écris ces lignes. La nouvelle a commencé par des rumeurs que je me refusais de prendre au sérieux. Aujourd’hui, c’est officiel. Le célèbre et talentueux studio Ghibli va fermer ses portes momentanément dans le but de réfléchir à la suite des événements. Toshio Suzuki a clairement annoncé la volonté d’arrêter la production de long métrage. Pour rappel, le studio Ghibli est à l’origine de nombreux chef d’œuvres dans l’animé comme Le voyage de Chihiro, Princesse Mononoké ou encore Le château ambulant.
Cette fermeture temporaire est à mettre directement en liaison avec le départ tant redouté du génie de l’animation japonaise : Hayao Miyazaki. Il y a peu, Kitarô Kôsaka, un autre grand nom pour le studio Ghibli, avait exposé ses craintes suite au départ de Miyazaki. Il précisait que seules ses productions rencontraient un franc succès et donc par conséquent, une rentabilité, les autres projets n’arrivant pas à décoller.
C’est définitivement une page qui se tourne dans l’histoire de l’animation si cette fermeture se confirme et se prolonge dans le temps.
Gardons tout de même espoir, Suzuki a également déclaré vouloir faire le ménage, marquer un temps de pause afin de savoir dans quelle direction le studio se dirigea. Il est vrai que sans capitaine, il est difficile de trouver la bonne voie. Omoide no Marnie pourrait être le tout dernier film Ghibli.
L’animation ne s’arrête pas au long métrage. En effet, le studio Ghibli développe une série télévisée : Ronya, fille de brigand, qui sera sur les écrans en octobre au Japon, croisons les doigts petits européens que nous sommes pour le voir apparaître dans nos contrées.
